MISSION CRITICAL APPLICATIONS
SECURE & LOW LATENCY
Electricity is one of the most important aspects of our lives, and Ondas Networks knows that better than anyone. Founded with the specific goal of developing network and data communication technologies for the electric utility industry, Ondas has used its experience in that field to shape private network technologies that are now being implemented by other industries that require heightened security, reliability and low latency.

MOVING TO AUTOMATION
The modern electric, gas, and water utility industry is quickly moving towards automation. This push for highly advanced automation has created a demand for more reliable and secure wireless data networks. Utilities are establishing a new, more reliable Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), referred to as Mission Critical Internet of Things (MC-IoT), to manage thousands of remote devices in the field. These devices include low-cost edge-computing devices, which streamlines operational efficiency.
APPLICATIONS
Ondas’ electric, gas and water utility customers utilize our private network solutions to establish MC-IoT connectivity for automated operations and enhanced security against various threats to data disruption including cyber and natural disasters. For electric utilities specifically, our networks help create smart grids that are closer to providing ‘perfect power’ and enable the incorporation of distributed energy resources. Our network solutions are often used for higher-level functions like substation automation and distribution automation (DA), including circuit breakers, switches, voltage regulators, reclosers, capacitor bank controllers, and solar inverters.
UTILITIES USE CASES
RAPPAHANNOCK ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is a large, state-wide electric distribution cooperative that is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric service to its members and communities. REC is also concerned about the environment and is the community’s energy expert. REC is proud to be there for their customers when they need them the most.
FullMAX™ INTEGRATION
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative is using FullMAX™ broadband data connectivity to remotely manage 120 utility substations throughout central and northern Virginia. The terrain in this area can be quite difficult, with many remote areas located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. However, through the use of just 9 land mobile radio tower sites, FullMAX™ is providing the necessary broadband data connectivity for SCADA and AMI backhaul. In addition, the network is ready for the addition of hundreds of new down line distribution automation devices when required.
MAXIMUM COVERAGE
Blakey Ridge Tower Site is one of the most impressive in the Blue Ridge Mountains. With its rolling hills and dense woods, it can be a challenge to get a signal to all parts of the coverage area. But with our three base stations operating in distinct 1 MHz channels, we can provide service to the entire 20 mile radius.
A GREAT EXAMPLE
The Cobalt-Plus Remote Radio is a compact, easy-to-install substation radio that can be used in a wide range of locations. Its small size and versatile mounting options make it an ideal choice for many applications. The Cobalt-Plus Remote Radio is an important part of any substation installation, and its features make it a valuable tool for utilities and contractors alike.
